na'ii'ees, or a Sunrise Ceremony, when they hit puberty. Besides dancing for four nights straight, white adobe clay is poured on them to symbolize the White Painted Woman, who is the Apache version of Eve.

This is based of the Caddo tale "The Voice, the Flood, and the Turtle". A woman gives birth to four monsters that grow really fast until they are huge and stand back to back until they fuse together and then there is a flood.

A very quick drawing of more bowl stuff.

The Mimbres believed that the sky was a bowl covering the earth, which goes with that burial bowl business. And of course there are legends about reaching the spirit world through a hole in the sky.

i dont know what day it is

anyway trying to catch up on monthies thought i'd try lasso tool and be cool like marina, but i dont really like it.

Coatlique, the mother god from Aztec lore

did you know::  the 15 foot idol of Coatlique was dug up by the Spanish, but was then reburied not because it was terrible to behold, but because it could not be explained how a "savage" race could carve it.

based off a Navaho sand painting
